The Bible says there will be streets of gold
I imagine some reds and oranges will be there too
This crisp air takes me there
Each breath fresher than the one before
My heart beats faster than my mind
Which is running somewhere else other than here
It escapes to my home in West Virginia which is a thousand mile away from here
It smells like coal
my mother says
"Reminds me of my childhood,"
she says
Reminds her of family reunions
Ashland, KY
formerly a place of gathering
(It is now a ghost-town
living up to its name)
