Poems from The Little Prince
I started writing poetry when I was around 16 or so, and have been writing ever since. I'm presently in college majoring in Psychology so I can eventually become a psychologist (after much grad school). In terms of personality I am an INFP, if one is using the MBTI, and I have a melancholic temperament, which, combined with my unbeatable sense of idealism, makes for an interesting combination. My poetry is often very idealistic, and I usually enjoy using rhythm and rhyme while allowing the poem's meaning to be fairly accessible, and yet deep enough that multiple readings could bring out more flavor from the text. Hope you enjoy, and feel free to tell me if you find anything wrong/right with what I've written, I appreciate any constructive criticism and critical praise. Thanks!
I flew upon the fragrant wings
Of thoughts, and hopes, and silly things,
I wandered worlds that might yet be
And trekked through places...
In a city where I wander,
Hoping not to see a face
That might recognize my features
In that crowded, empty place,
Where I walk past...
When the dark rolls in on summer skies
And the sun averts his gaze,
When the crickets start their wooing songs
At the end of heated days...
If you could hear the things I hear,
The music in my soul,
How life is poured in every note
That makes the world seem whole,
If you...
As I gaze into the jeweled night
On a long and level beach
I stretch my fingers to the stars
That lie beyond my reach.
And I feel the sand...
