Being transgender - first and foremost - is something that creeps up on you. One day you wake up and realize that you're completely terrified of going outside ever again, and it's something that most people will never ever recognize. Behind the scenes of everyday life, you'll go through amazing realizations and evolve as a person while keeping everything locked inside, in a state of constant dread and fear of the reactions of everyone you know and love. Your closest friends and family could reel in horror, for all you know. But it's something that you can't hide indefinitely. It grows inside you. The old face, the 'you' that everyone knows, feels more fake every day. The only way out is through; the only way to solve anything is to stop hiding. Rip that old face right off. Right to the bare bones, as it were.
