Early on the sky was dark
Hints of navy on a horizon
She laughed and stars shined forth
Illuminating all
Then came the dull sparks of...
The land of the free
Home of the brave
America
Where children run and hide
From the ricocheting bullets
Clinging to their friends...
Today, May seventh my friend heard gunshots
He saw blood on the ground
Two shooters
Brought a kid unto their end.
He knew them by name...
Years from now
say 2034
I stand around
wanting nothing more
than to be where i am
a place so grand
everything according to
a careful plan...
Chants of slurs follow people
down the streets
through the halls
in jobs
in home.
Places supposed to be sacrad and safe
Turned against them...
