The west has forgotten us,
We shielded it when it was young,
The west has betrayed us,
We gave it the songs they sung,
Echoing through...
Habakkuk,
You stood on the walls and watched,
Through the long and troubled night.
You strained your eyes across the field,
Looking hard...
The spine tingles coldly,
The metallic, steely scrapes
Of sabers rattling so close,
And fear takes on all shapes.
So close that I cannot...
No more bullets fly in Kyiv,
On the burnt and black Maidan,
The barricades can now come down,
For the battle is now won.
Berkut no...
Year after year, class after class,
A dull grey ooze of shapeless mass,
Squishes through one sleepy ear,
But out the other to disappear....
