Poems from Annette M Velasquez
Lou Reed,
once recalled
a misadventure
whether real
or imagenery,
exagerated
I do not know...
and the anecdote
is of dodging
beer bottles...
Art is
aesthetic,
pleasing to the eye,
but also
utilitarian
as in pottery
the warmth of a woven
blanket...
and whether it is
primitive
or...
It was 1966-
then,
so I can only imagine
and invent their words
myself
because I was only
three,
and still ignorant
of politics.
Though now...
It is not only the lives
of certain ones
that illuminate as a comet
history's firmament,
but also the circumstances
surrounding the deaths...
Auburn tressed,
( though I'm no
Shannon or Colleen)
circumstances
have made my home
the desert...
arid,
though never
barren
I have learned...
