Zombies of today

Location

Stories told as a child,

Of the dead walking a while.

Today a girl walks on the bus,

Surrounded by people, yet so alone.

Mouth gaped open, eyes glued

Missing the sky that’s shinning blue.

The zombies changed with time,

No longer the monsters covered in slime.

Our friends no longer talk,

Their phones trap them in some sort of block.

We miss the dinner table and mall,

To go look at someone’s wall?

Instead of hearing the birds chirp,

We wait for our friends to tweet.

Is this how it supposed to be?

Zombies never to be set free.

To technology we bow,

Not for me, not here, not now.
