Yours Truly

Thu, 10/19/2017 - 01:41 -- g.z.

You dare say 'I don't know what pain is',

Yet, dear family, you've been fooled by yours truly.

To keep everything within and closed so tightly

That it begun to leak at the seams.

I wished you had been more keen.

For a young soul to even contemplate the idea of death

Would sound absurd to you all,

Yet, dear family, you've been fooled by yours truly.

Oh, believe me when I say 'I know how it feels,'

The scars still have yet to heal.

'How could she have hidden it so well?'

You may ask,

'How did none of us see it before?'

I don't wish for you to blame yourselves,

Even when you begin to weep beneath your veils.

But alas, the truth is not so simple

For I had never hidden anything,

Simply, none of you bothered to ask.

As to how a mere child could deal with it on her own

Is tragically comical, for I never actually knew.

Yet again, dear family, you've been fooled by yours truly.
