You're A River

Fri, 07/12/2013 - 14:01 -- Ahlam

These moments of determined shrills

make contact with your leveled feet

a dent in your character,

a red X over memories

needed to maintain the equilibrium

you were meant to be

but a person isn’t stone

and who you are isn’t set

you’re a river that flows,

a personality to forget

and three words,

one gesture,

one step

is all it takes

from who you are

to who you were

to a stranger

to who you are once again

you’re a river, and like a river

you can never be penned
