A Young Voice Heard

A baby cries for help

A mother hears its cry

But what about the older ones to whom we don't reply?

A child in a bad home

A teenage victime of a crime

Who hears their voices as they cry time after time?

A small voice seeks love

A heart to understand, a hand to hold on tight

Someone to lean on, to show them the light.

But so often we hear their voices too late

Too many times we ignore their cry

Tell me, to get us to listen, how many more have to die?

A child needs a hero

Not an abuser, not pain.

Stand up and hear their voice and bring them through the rain.

The sun shines on the other side,

But so many never see

A helping hand is out there; it could be you or me.

So many say it's for attention

But do we really know?

Why take a chance? Why risk a life? Is love that hard to show?

Take a stand and listen

Hear a young voice cry,

A mother should never have to bury her child, because a child should never have to die.
