Young Tempest Personified

Location

I step into the grass

Feel each soft, dew-slick blade

Fold and yield under my bare feet

I turn my face up

To the glowering sky

Baring her light-flash teeth

Snarling at the ground

She starts to cry slowly at first

Then she sobs and sobs

Violent sheets of water tearing through the air

Any attempts at consolation

Are greeted by growls

And snaps of bright teeth

I look for shelter

From the sky’s strange saltless tears

I actually have another version of this poem somewhere, a much better version. I used that better version to get into a writing workshop. I lost it somewhere in my house. Oh well. Such is life.
