You'd Be Surprised

You'd be surprised to figure out who hides behind these lies,

You'd be surprised to figure out who smiles while in disguise,

It's me, the girl who you see smiling all the time,

You think I'm all put together wait until my life is untied,

With all the lies, the fakes and the laughter,

Social acceptance, that's what I was after,

Come to find out after the house fire in '08,

My brain was wrapped around the impossible for so late,

Can I change my life now? Or do I keep on going?

I came out to my mother thinking she would be all for me,

Knew I shouldn't have done it, after all she is a pastor's wife,

But fuck it all man, It's my GOD-DAMN LIFE,

Actually, WORLD WAKE UP! It's our GOD-DAMN RIGHT!

My mom was in denial blaming it on my childhood,

"Oh you know you were molested, now you're up to no good,"

THIS IS WHO I AM, THIS IS HOW I'M LIVING,

When I graduate from this university, you'll see my well being,

Happy as can be, unmasked, joyfully, freedom for me!

Now when I grow up I wonder if you'll swallow your pride,

Because honey I'm sorry to tell ya' I'll be having a wife by my side,

You'd be surprised to figure out who hides behind these lies,

You'd be surprised to figure out who smiles while in disguise.
