You Understand Of Course

by: Landen DeGraff (@simplylanden)

In the vast forest of the mind

The penniless children did roam

The sun-filled streets of wood

The time warp changed to the beat of the beetles

Scratching the surface of the ocean

Where only boot-ridden air hit the moonbeams

You understand of course?

At last! They scream and shout

No abiding fingertip top

At the hand of the shivering mountain

Could it be that the space of love

Was filled with the staring eyes?

But you see, the completed truth behind the lie

Stands between two nauseating pillars

Never falling into the depth of divinity

For one can't feel what is not

And what is not is what could be

For the would be are have nots

You understand of course?

So yes, proclaim the reality

Of the simple calamity

That plagues us with originality

Abstracted from the contracted meaning

Of which one could affiliate the truth

To be the sons of creative dignity

One hears the clashing keys of solidity

You understand of course?

For these words mean nothing

Yet poetic at the very least

Carrying meaning after all

One can ramble about nothing

But still mean something

You understand of course?

Sometimes a release is needed

The liberation of words and rhythm

Placed together in a jumbled way

The simple pleasure of a good old-fashioned read

Needs no particular understanding

Yet you understand of course?
