You Only Write Once Scholarship Slam: Too Late

Too Late

It was your decision to make me stay.

I needed you to make me feel alive,

But I had the courage to walk away.

With all the lies and deceptions you say,

I knew I had to be myself and thrive.

It was your decision to make me stay.

With all the tears I have shed over you,

wanting to go back in time and see truth.

But I had the courage to walk away.

Begging and pleading to give you a chance,

thinking about memoires I can't dispute.

It was your decision to make me stay

Making the same mistakes over again,

drowning in my pool of lust and pity.

But I had the courage to walk away.

Reassurance and self confidence saved me,

seeing that you were a want and not a need.

It was your decision to make me stay,

but I had the courage to walk away.
