A Year of Love, Politics, and Broadway Obsession

Wed, 01/11/2017 - 10:33 -- Emmy

Seems like forever

A boy with a Peter Pan face

Walked into my life

A split across the people

The candidates speak on TV

A passion is born

Feel the Bern I’d shout

Writing an article about the election

Probably more knowledgeable then the people voting

You support Trump?

How did I not realize?

I’ll stay because there’s nothing better

You should watch Rent

The magic of another life just outside my reach

No day but today

Why did Bernie not win?

My poll among high schoolers said he would

Guess Clinton’s better than Trump

I thought I was straight

Then she came out to me

The sleeping beast wakes

I take the flower out of the vase

And pull the petals out

She loves me, she loves me not

They scatter in the wind

Landing on the surface of the lake

She loves me

I blow the closet doors apart

And wrap my arms around her

Feeling home at last

I run with the pack now

Part of a community I had always loved

With her hand in mine
