The World Was Not Kind To Me

The world was not kind to me
I guess it saw me unworthy
Or maybe just too plain
Or maybe just too strange
Just too different from the rest
And decided I needed some pain
I suppose some suffered more
And some suffered less
Some suffered grief
Some suffered death
And I?
I suffered loneliness
Separated from the rest
Seen through different eyes
I didn’t pass the test
I don’t see why
I had two hands that did work
Two eyes that saw the scorn
Two ears that heard the insults
And one heart that felt the pain
The pain so heavy it spread through the rest
It started in my feet
No step without pain
Then to my knees
They said it was all in my head
Till it got to my heart
Containing nothingness and pain
But then I saw the end of the tunnel
A beautiful shining white light
I felt a sudden surge of hope
I ran for up ahead
But then I saw the cause
Of the pure light
A glorious golden castle
Next to it was a sparkling blue lake
It was beautiful
I took a step foreword and heard the creak of wood
I looked down and saw a pit of blackness
I was standing on the only way across
A rickety rope bridge
The darkness below looked so comforting,
So familiar,
I heard a voice ordering me down
Uttering deep commanding words
Then I heard another voice
Soft and soothing
Calmly calling me over the bridge
It does not shout, but overpowers the voice of darkness
And I step further on the wood and rope structure
Toward the golden castle
I finish my journey across the bridge
A smiling face greets me with open arms
He is the one who gave me directions
While I was on the bridge
He is my friend, my life, my love
And he always was
