World of Rejects

The world might’ve tried to squish me between its fingers.

But I stitched myself back together.

People didn’t want to understand, but I flashed a grin and kissed her lips.

I dug my claws into the mountain side and hauled myself up.

I reached the top of the cliff and when society tried to push me off the edge I laughed.

I laughed as I fell down into the sea.

I grew gills and learned to breathe.

I spend my days on the top of cliffs and the bottom of the ocean.

The rest of the world didn’t like us, so we survived without the world.

We are the rejects of society, living among the coral reefs and rainbows.

We fly higher and swim deeper than the rest.

Living among the stars we see more.

Living with the sharks we learned to survive.

Society was messed up, but the ocean and sky opened themselves up to us.

Welcome to a beautiful world.

The world of rejects.
