The World

I cannot walk down the street

I cannot walk down the street at night,

                                                     Nor in broad daylight.

The fear of a strange man approaching me,

This fear is in both male and female,

Having to beg for respect and privacy.

A woman shouts at the man,

                                                   “Sir, please don’t touch me!”

A young man shouts at the man,

                                                     “Sir, please don’t touch me!”

Although this man does not respect his boundaries,

He is free on the streets,

While the young woman and man are now dead.

                                                  Nobody would believe them,

Everyone says it was their fault.

Their fault for walking down the street in broad light,

                                            While minding their own business.
