Working for a Living

$1,000

It seemed simple enough

The yard was not that big

But an hour in and it was really tough

The man would holler and yell

I worked harder

But looking around you could hardly tell

My first landscaping job

Was supposed to be easy

Like flipping a switch or turning a knob

Instead it made me queasy

I wanted to make the guy happy

But instead he was mad

Even his dog was yappy.

I learned about customer service that day

It inspired me to work harder

And learn from others so I will never again say

That I did not like the job I had bartered

But instead will be proud

Of all my work and want

Everyone I work for to be wowed

That first customer, angry as heck

Inspired me to fix my ways

Which would mean I could collect the check

And enjoy my working days.
