Everyone uses them

Some wield them like swords

Others like shields

Some to harm

And others to heal

Made gods like them

Or made mortal by them

Some use to trick and deceive

Others to reveals truths

(Fewer still use them to negotiate

A tender line between truth and lie)

But they seem so small

To have so much power

Mere lines of prose

Can bring a nation down

A king to his knees

A queen to a guillotine

And all for a word or two

They’re true currancey

Recognized in every nation

Port and City

Information is everywhere

And words are the key

To every locked chest

And every secret kept
