Without You

My Mother, My Father,

Two halves a whole.

If I had any others, oh, how differently life would unfold

I grew with the both of you,

as you shaped my ways:

With the confidence you gave me,

I could walk straight through a maze.

With the courage I've watched and learned,

I could walk through a blaze.

With the strength that I've made my own,

I can actually be unbothered, unfazed.

But, without you, I'd be walking the Earth in a daze.

I watch you  both work so hard,

amazed by the fact that you make it look so easy.

I'm not going to lie, writing this poem is making me quite teary,

but you definitely don't have to ask me if I appreciate it, no Siri.

Getting so many things done at once, me and the sis create superhero theories.

But once again, your love and work are amazing.

Without you guys in my life, birds wouldn't even sing.

They would come to my window, and ask me why it stings,

and I wouldn't even be able to say anything because you are the ones who taught me how to sing.
