Winter Nights and Summer Mornings

You lost someone

It's winter

The ice gets colder

Every hour is spent thinking of her

Every hour reminiscing over the accident

Every hour haunted by the idea that she will never come back

A grandmother that didn't make it to Christmas

A mother sentenced to jail

A sister who lost her mind and cried farewell

You could not stand loving another woman

You could not stand losing, but the desire to love is fixed in your thoughts

You are afraid to come out of the closet

You meet someone

It's summer

The ice breaks

First day of knowing her and you greet her with a smile

First time she stares at you and you don't look away

First night spent at her house and you have no shame

She wasn't afraid to love you the way she loved women

She held your hand in front of everyone

She gave you a kiss that turned your entire world around

Life is golden with her

Life doesn't stop because of winter nights

Life continues to dazzle under the heat of the sun
