Winter and Spring

When winter storms bring snow and ice and springs face hides beneath
And life is draped in cold regret where jealousy sinks its teeth
The road is dark and rough, though often traversed by those
Whom to pain, aching, and heartache were often overexposed

When winter storms bring snow and ice and spring burrows down under
And all the fragments that make oneself are suddenly torn asunder
We crash and stumble and often fall to knees that scrape and crack
And misguided, mislead by those who take us off the beaten track

When winter storms bring snow and ice and spring goes into hiding
And good and evil deeds in life are somehow coinciding
We change perspective overall and rise again to victory
And to the sorrows that shape our past we give a valedictory
