windows to my soul

There is a saying of old

It goes like so

the eyes are the windows to the soul

Look into my eyes and tell me

Tell me what you truly see

do you see the struggle I hide?

the struggle I hide behind these eyes

Draw the curtains open

let yourself in through my window

head inside a winter grey and cold

do you see past my body?

past my body into my soul of old?

Do you see?

Do you see what I feel?

A soul yearning to be set free

longing to choose the sights she wants to see

A soul, so alone and so lonely

peering back at you, wondering if only

Behind these eyes is a world of hurt

I’ve been bruised battered and cut

outside I smile but my soul is in pain

outside I smile but my soul is in a drain

Look into my eyes and tell me

tell me what you truly see

Do you see the struggle I hide?

the struggle I hide behind these eyes
