Will you choose to see?

Location

Will you choose to see the 57,000 children fleeing on bare feet hopeful of the American dream?

The children who suffer the scorching heat atop la bestia, the beast

Crossing train tracks, rivers, borders but never crossing our minds

Will you choose to acknowledge the 57,000 hopeful tears of the children who arrive at the border?

Who cry themselves to sleep confined withing metal cages

Or what they call detention facilities

Treated as criminals and punished for dreaming

Receiving the only attention an "illegal alien" deserves to get

Will you see the bloody scars on their feet and feel the agonizing pain in their hearts knowing that this was their only way out of hell

Of the hell they lived in their countr, where their lives were worth no more than a couple of pesos

Where they only lived to survive

Threatened by gangs

Stalked by drug cartels

Plagued by poverty

And chased by death

Will you choose to see the countless others who don't make it?

The one's who become victims of rape, human trafficking and murder

Or the ones who become victims of our society

Labeled by the media and seen as a pest

It's time to open our eyes and see

We can't risk being blind now

We can't be fooled by the border La frontera

Not when 12, 11, 10, 9 year olds travel across the desert alone all to reach the America dream!

We are living a humanitarian crisis, Will you choose to open your eyes and see?
