Why Roses?
Why do we give roses to our loves?
Roses wither and die
They prick us like a knife left in the sink
After they die they begin to stink
Like a bad marriage thrown to a shrink
They are red like the color of blood
And only open occasionally
Like gates for a flood.
But still we give roses frequently
As a symbol of our love.

I wrote this poem as a satirical way to look at roses. I realize it's a little dark but I still enjoyed writing it.

I like your poem. Its unique and I didn't think of roses that way before. But it does make you think on why we give a flower like that for the symbol of love. I think its because like a rose has thorns, relationships do too but its over comming the difficluties and trying to work together and love oneanother. I liked how you used rhyming in your poem. :)
