Why Not?

In this day and age

Things all seem like they're going to crap.

Fires and poverty and war and death.

Hell on earth and pain come to life,

Like our eyes have been opened to what things can really be.

Not Disney, and flowers, and smiles on youthful faces.

But brutality and arrogance and sorrow and madness.

All swirling around us

Trapping us in a vortex of our own mad scientist creation.

It seems like things will never look up,

Never get better.

The brightside is a lie created by Halmark card makers

To give people reasons to keep on going.

But once they wake up from the

"Every little thing is going to be alright"

Wet dream

They are sad.

But if I could make a change,

I would make one so small that you'd have to squint to catch it.

I'd start a chain reaction of kindess

Because, why not?

Hold open a door.

Tell someone they are pretty, because it would make their day.

Open a window and shout to the world,

"WHY

NOT!?"

Kindness is the loudest scream in a room full of noise

Because people don't expect it.

They expect selfishness and hostility.

Not a politely extended hand

And a friendly smile on an unfamiliar face.

Geniune niceness is a perfect weapon

To shoot and kill all the nasty in the world.
