Why Do I Write?

Tue, 09/10/2013 - 18:57 -- mitzy11

Because sometimes spoken thoughts don’t reach the same height.

The impact of carefully considered words is immense,

Sometimes a heated argument can be intense.

Sometimes a poem can cause depression,

Sometimes there are too many words for vocal expression.

To avoid yelling, crying, or talking excessively,

There is another option; to write and express you fully.

When writing from the heart, there are no rules,

No grammar, punctuation, or scholarly tools.

They are not necessary because you won’t receive a grade,

Writing is therapeutic; write your issue, and watch it fade.

The reasons to write are countless and varied,

Some do it sporadically, while others feel an urgent need.

My own reasons are for the creativity of linguistics,

I crave rhyming, creating a poetic flow; a literary mix.

Writing is an art, although some tend to  detest,

I go through writing phases, although I never give it too much rest.

When you find the “write” words to arrange in a subsequent order,

It is like making a bet, and tossing your lucky two headed quarter.

When you read your own writing, and find yourself satisfied,

It brings a sense of accomplishment, and a strong sense of pride.

Writing helps you believe in yourself, and your intellectual capabilities,

You learn more about yourself, your morals, principles, and impurities.

Nobody knows you as well as you know yourself,

But if you can accept you as you are, that’s life’s greatest wealth.

Everything you are not makes you everything that you are,

If you write about your principles and beliefs, it can take you very far.

In the process of writing; you learn more about you,

And if you can love you, and if the love is true. . .

Then an abundance of love is what you can accrue.
