Why?

?Why

Why is it so hard to understand?

This isn’t the easiest subject for all of us.

When someone comes to you for help,

Why do you turn us away saying that it’s easy?

Why can you talk down to me the way you do?

Just because you are an “authority figure”,

Doesn’t give you the right to make me feel stupid,

And you still get away with all that you do.

Why is it that you believed her instead of me?

So what if she is “advanced” or more talkative than I am.

I still have a voice, you know, yearning to be heard.

You pushed me to the side just because my parents don’t work at the school.

Why? Why do you go around to the other teachers gossiping?

Just because we cannot remember 40 vocab words in a week,

That doesn’t mean we can’t solve quadratic equations.

That’s all I wish I could say to you,

But you have taught me that my voice means nothing,

That I don’t have a voice, an opinion.

But you’re right, because you are a teacher, and I’m a student.
