Who I am is because of those around me.

Trials and tribulations are part of life,

They give to many, new experiences to learn and grow.

From the aching pains of body, to minds of strife,

There is always something that seems to keep one low.

But it is during times such as these,

That the breath of life comes from pleading knees.

I have not, a difficult life in any way.

Things have been paid for, and they always stay.

I have met goals and reached new heights,

And have not had trials that raise great frights.

But this is not always the best thing.

Where does growth come from if not from a little sting?

Because of this I must look for different ways to learn importance

Through diligence and in accordance

With my belief in God.

This is something that does not come

save I strive to become unflawed,

and seek be un-numb.

To become more than gutter and mud,

I have learned you must put trust in more than yourself.

For if a wall on a house possesses but a single stud

It will surely fall and crash, leaving no more than a tiny shelf.

This is why family is so vital

They give support when it is needed most.

How else could an Olympic Athlete win a title?

Without them he would not get his chance to boast.

So here I am, the man I have learned to be,

Working with my hands for posterity.

I do not know what trials my life has in store.

But whether big or small I’ll remember who they’re for.

They’re for my family, for my friends,

To set right the studless trends

That you are the reason for success

and not those around you.

Without others you would be a mess.

Those who know this are too few.

I am who I am today because of the people around me.

They make sure I create paths for myself to be free.

I am a good man today because of what family does for me every hour

Without them, the most I could ever hope to be is a big, scared coward.

So who am I?  Well, I will tell you.

I am a man that has become chaste and true.

Not because of anything I have done on my own,

But because of family, God, and home.

Again, I have not a complicated life.

But I do live in a world of strife.

So I must try every day to help where I can.

So that someday I will finally be a true man.

I do this for the ones that have brought me this far.

For the ones that keep me on par.

The ones that I call my family.

The ones that mean the world to me.

This is who am you see.

I am who I am because of my family.
