Who am I with #nofilter?

Location

2015

New Year New me

But who is ‘me’ when no one can see?

We got layers of layers of stuff in the way.

No one hears what you actually say.

There’s fronts, make up and filters on that.

There’s clothes, media and it all falls flat.

Because at the end of the day

No one cares.

Because at the end of the day

No one knows,

What I mean,

When I say,

“Me.”

So how do I show them?

How do I let them know

What lives inside

And continues to grow?

How do I step out of my shell

And be myself

When no one else is?

When you take away the make up and the filters and the fronts.

I’m a girl with a heart too big for her chest.

I’m five feet three inches of an emotional mess.

I got a mind full of dreams.

I got love for my family.

I got so much to show them.

But how do they see the girl who loves art, music, and poetry?

How can they?

Because the stuff that’s inside;

The real “me”.

Is hiding under all the layers,

All the obstacles,

All the make up,

And all the filters.

So no one knows,

And no one cares.

Because only I know who I am,

Without a filter.
