WHO AM I

I am a tree-
standing where I am.
I am the wind-
always there, but never seen.
I am an eagle-
slowly soaring by.
I am looking out for you
and I sometimes wonder why.

I am the breath
you feel but cannot see.
I am the arms,
catching you when you fall.
I am a voice
that’s too afraid to speak.
I am your protector
for reasons not clear to even me.

I am a creature
unlike you, and unknown.
I am a reason
to look beyond what you know,
I am a promise
that would never let you down,
If you don’t soon see me
I may not be around.
