White Wall Rhymes

Location

The tinsel didn’t shine the same, It’s sparkle fogged this year.

Sugar cookies smelled like medication and the uneasy strain of maturity.

Those white walls,

Sad. White. Walls.

With Mom and her art beside them.

Working fervently at her clean desk.

Confused, yet urgent still. “I’m ill!” She cried.

Piecing the papers together.

Don’t you grasp my rhyme?

At ease to be, She wanted to run.

I run too, but not like her.

Maybe she just wanted out.

To be Free, Free, and Away, she thought.

Home is not to far from here.

Away Away Away she thought.

And home in time to read before bed.

The squeals of the siren broke the confusion.

She’s gone mad! But, aren't we all?

After all, who really likes white?

and who doesn’t feel like running?...

Do you know Jesus?

You need him bad.

Spinning in a sickening circle of fear, failure and white walls.
