Wherever I Go

Wherever you go, there’s always someone Jewish

Wherever I go, I’ve seen the news.

So when I’m at the synagogue or at my youth group,

The odds are, don’t look far- there’s another vigil too.

Some Jews are scared, and some are angry, Others demand justice, in crowds twice hungry.

Some Jews are “sheep”, for anti-gun legislation,

Or they are “sheep dogs”, a Second Amendment creation.

Tree of Life, Chabad in Poway, yes they're far away, But to me, at the Synagogue you see, my childhood was thrown away.

Some Jews are like my mother, they're advocates of change,

I was raised to try new things that were foreign or quite strange.

Some Jews are like my father, angry and unbelieving,

When we speak of gun control he quickly gets to leaving.

I was the Jew that couldn't be happier, I had Rosh Hashanas full of laughter,

As shots were fired, they wreaked disaster, and my innocence could not have left faster.

Wherever you go, there’s always someone Jewish

Wherever I go, I’ve seen the news.

So when I’m at the synagogue or at my youth group,

The odds are, don’t look far- there’s another vigil too.
