Where to turn?

Ephesians 6:11-13

11 Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. 13 For this reason, take up the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand your ground on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand.

The enemy is not brazen but sullen in approach

He tries to change you little by little

He seems to have patience as he waits by the trap

That he placed in your path ... so subtle

Slowly but surely he tightens the loose

While you think it to be a chain for decoration

And when you notice it seems to be too late

As you catch yourself dangling in frustration

Where do you turn if you can in your helpless state?

Do you know anyone who can deliver you now?

Gasping for air ... kicking in the wind

Amazing your neck did not break somehow?

You cry out to your Maker but why would He listen?

When others ask your forgiveness You turned away

You vow now to the Lord that you will change

As for the wrongs you did ... you can’t pay

The Lord now cuts the rope the one of your own making

and sets you free ... to attain for another day

Looking from afar or you will do better

to see what the next time you will say
