I’m from my grandmother’s rocking chair,
perched against the wooden door.
I’m from old spices and corn tortillas,
that melts inside your mouth
with their vibrant flavors.
I’m from a family of blue flowers and chrysanthemums,
so rare that they give an aura of
perfection and peacefulness.
They are my rock
that keeps me tied to this greedy world.
I’m from yellow chain bracelets,
that keeps me close to my eccentric best friends.
I’m from a world of people
with a heart of gold.
I’m from paper and notebooks,
that keeps me up all night long.
I’m from babysitting little monsters,
that run all around the house.
This is where I’m from.
