Where I'm From

I am from gravel,
From chrysanthemums an lilacs
I am from the smell of gasoline and the taste of blood
From the water faucet hiding behind the fence
I am from the mossy, jagged rocks
Engulfed by woods
From standing on the counter
Boy, those Poptarts were good.

I am from meows and woofs,
From full names and nicknames
I'm from who's-its and what's-its
From laughing gas and lots of tears
I'm from cobblers and Chef Boyarde
From Jesse James and the believers of world peace
I'm from Puerto Rico and Wyoming
From happy birthday, Jesus.

I am from the Long Branch and River Rock
From corn bread and kale
I'm from the Titanic and do dogs really go to heaven?
From honeysuckle and grape vines
I am from all the dolls on the shelf,
Hurry, call 911 and no I lay me down to sleep
From 1:30am and would you like some peanut butter?
From you look wonderful tonight and closing the goddamn door
I'm from strokes and kinks
From 'ello love and later lovely
I am from Caledonia, what makes your big head so hard?
