Where I'm From

Sun, 07/01/2018 - 22:24 -- cngudac

I am from inclines,

from bridges and rivers.

I am from perogies

(homemade, delicious,

they tasted like a dream.)

I am from champions,

the city of champions-

whose players names I remember

as if they were my own.

I am from sports fanatics: from hockey

to baseball and football.

I’m from the highs

and the lows-

from yinz and dahntahn.

I’m from 6 Super Bowl wins

with a killer team

and a 4-word chant I can say myself.

I’m from Heinz and Primantis

unique and savory.

From a city splattered with black and gold

the mighty, proud, and victorious.

Now next to my bed, a drawer,

spilling event tickets and

childhood keepsakes

to lay with my memories.

I am from those moments,

gone before I blinked, but never forgotten...

the lense of my imagination.
