When will ... you ... be satisfied?
1 Kings 12:20
Solomon’s enemy:
20 When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, they summoned him to the assembly and made him king over all Israel.
No one except the tribe of Judah remained loyal to the Davidic dynasty.
1 Kings 14:25-26
Solomon’s son:
25 In King Rehoboam’s fifth year, King Shishak of Egypt attacked Jerusalem.
26 He took away the treasures of the Lord’s temple and of the royal palace;
he took everything, including all the golden shields that Solomon had made.
Wisdom vs Intelligence
Built another palace … Oh! Solomon you need it.
You have quite a few now … you really need another.
Make it out of gold … for your own satisfaction
built it fast and quick … it will make you whole.
You need a place for all your wives? … Well I can understand that.
Why don’t you build one in Africa … and get some out of the way.
You can’t sent them back to daddy … he is glad they’re gone.
Oh! Silly you are quite a sight … to be the wisest of your day.
You set quite an example … for all now to follow.
Fill your house with concubines and every room with wives.
Invest the time wisely … let others pay the cost
although they have less than you … all they can do is gripe.
You came from a broken home … did you know any better?
My dear God gave you wisdom … and you placed it in a box.
You opened the door of selfishness … and filled your life with pride.
It looked good for a while … but towards the end you seemed so lost.
Then you finally realized … the futility of it all.
All that you gathered wound up in some one else’s pockets.
Too late to do it over again … you ran out of chances
All you accomplished in the past … time has now locked up.
