When the Time Comes To Let Your Pet Go

She was beside you and you told her that God needed you
She solemnly carried you into the vet’s office and placed you on the floor
The vet looked at her and she at you and nodded at the vet who took out the needle
The needle sunk in as she held you in those trembling arms
I knew and dreaded that day for a long time hoping it would never come
You silently slowly slipped away to a place where you weren’t in pain
That place is the one where you wait with all the others that have departed
From life to wait patiently for the ones who love and miss them
Waiting for them
So they can be together once more but this time forevermore
And she let you go to where you are greatly missed
All wish they had been there when you departed from life
Lots of love sent straight from the deep depths of my bleeding heart.
