When Nothing Exists

Songs cannot be sung

Bells cannot be rung

Stars refuse to shine

A poet’s lost her rhyme.

Babies do not cry

Loved ones do not die

Flowers do not bloom

Someone stole the moon.

Laughter isn’t heard

Birdsong from no bird

No heat from the sun

Mistakes will go undone.

Fire does not burn

Enemies hold no scorn

Water does not fall

The artist forgets to draw.

Emotion takes no hold

Winter holds no cold

Survivors cannot fight

Night lights give no light.

Infection does not set

A gambler has no debt

Needles do not prick

Candle burns its wick.

Prayers go unsaid

Chivalry isn’t dead

Lovers do not cheat

Strangers never meet.

Passion holds no heat

Musicians loose the beat

Romans used no spear

Dying holds no fear.

Temptation holds no sway

The suns forgot the day

Innocence is lost

Living has no cost.

Children do not play

Nothing left to say

Crowns are lost to kings

Gemstones fall from rings.

Ravens fall silent

The world is quiet

Houses fall of bricks and sticks

And you look to find that nothing exists.
