When I Grew, I Grew Big

Wed, 06/12/2019 - 20:00 -- LissaAG

When I grew, I grew big

Puncturing the naiveness that made every choice

Constructed with a closed mind and idiocy

Shattering the carelessness that made room for no voice

Needing maturity to grow in a sense of urgency

When I grew, I grew fast

Hardly having time to reminisce

Unable to see myself in depth and carefulness

Wisping past affairs I could should have taken in

Making me ill with nostalgia and homesickness

When I grew, I grew tough

Unbending and strong from the things Iʻve learned

Able to move with a sense of confidence

Mind completely hardened and formed

Changing the view of myself through independence

When I grew, I grew clever

Perceptive and attentive of every situation

Every thought stealthy and sharp, seeing through conspiracy

Every move made with a slick observation

My mind ruling over heart and soul with strong supremacy

When I grew, I grew big

No longer radiant with youth and carefree

No longer slowing down time to enjoy the nostalgic moments

Feeling, every moment, the need to better me

Looking into my past with a longing disappointment

When I grew, I grew big
