Everything is peace in the morning light

All the dark swept up at night.

While big kids sleep, the youth: secure

All outside by morning's lure.

Toddlers walk by broken bottles,

Tenth-years clasp their bikes hand-throttles

Mapping the paths on cracked sidewalk

With all the kids along the block.

A house of many, overflown

No room inside, no room your own.

Your family makes your neighborhood

More living than it would or could.

So in the morning they take heart

When everything is peace.

But at night, prepare for flight

And sign a better lease.
