What's Right Around The Corner

Location

It happened again today. The sudden thought that occurs when I find myself in solitude, the realization of if I utilize the time I have with what I am given. "What am I doing with my life?" Like a broken record the phrase repeats in my head.
I dream of amassing large amounts of wealth and fame, by contributing to the arts with my passion for writing as well as advancing technology to new levels. To bring forth a new age of enlightenment to the world and become renowned for being the world's most innovative mind is what I long for.
Pen and paper in hand I pour myself a glass of water, thinking years from now if it will be someone who will pour for me an expensive glass of wine, if the poem I am writing now will later become published and acclaimed as a masterpiece, but there's only so much you can do to grasp the future you yearn due to the limitless variables and possibilities, but that doesn't eliminate the reason to try for as bleak as it may be there's always a silver lining to a future of your favor.
As days become weeks and months become years you begin to think of your past. You think of something you can never change yet your future is still open to limitless possibilities.
To say life is a series of doors in which after one closes another opens takes away your right of choice, your right to choose the door you want to open because every time you open one and you walk down a long hallway and you finally reach the end you close your eyes and peek around the corner, and its you who decides whether or not that when you open your eyes...you see a dead end.
