What We Could Have Been

I lie awake at night

Staring at the deep night sky

Wishing I could go back in time

To make what we could have been

You were like water in the savannah

A raindrop in the desert

An angel in the midst of fire

But I spoilt it all

What we could have been

You had eyes that could make the sun rise

A smile that could light up a room

And a heart of gold

What was I thinking?

When I drove you away

All I know now

Is that it was a big mistake

What we could have been

We were soulmates

Destined to be together

For all eternity

But I made you cry

And told you to get out of my life

But now I realize

What we could have been

Right now I cry

I want to die

I’m filled with strife

Anytime I realize

What we could have been?
