What Was That?

Mon, 07/14/2014 - 01:52 -- MLY

That girl sitting two rows in front of you?

Yes, the one with the short skirt and the tight shirt.

Why are you calling her names?

So what if she likes keeping company in bed?

First of all you don’t even know if that’s true.

Secondly, if she’s being safe, then whats the problem?

Just because it doesn’t fit with your idea of what is right?

“Immigrants come here and just pop out children and become legal”.

Who are you to say that?

Who do you think you are?

Do you even know why these people risk their life to come here?

Do you even try to understand?

Their pain, their suffering, their sacrifice?

The things, the people, the memories, the lives they leave behind?

All to give their children their best shot?

That couple there?

Yes, thats two boys there.

So what?

How does that affect you?

Why do you insist on shoving your beliefs down

the throats of others?

It is their life, it is their love.

And isn’t that all that matters in the end?

Love? Devotion? Kindness?

I am a college women.

I have never been pregnant.

I have never been faced with making the decision of

keeping a child, adoption, or abortion.

But I would like to keep that choice.

Because it is my body and my rights.

Because rights are just that - rights

You don’t fight for them, they are given to you.

I am a grown woman, why is some middle aged man

with a five dollar haircut telling me what I can

And cannot do with my own body?

So when I am asked what makes me think,

When I am asked what makes me tick, it is this;

Ignorance.

Ignorance is what makes me think of the world

I live in, the world that i will leave my mark on.

A world that needs changing - a country that needs changing.

Ignorance is what makes me think, what makes me feel,

Ignorance is what makes me act.
