What They Don't Tell You

When you go to the grocery store

They don't tell you about the hormones and anibiotics

That is in the chicken and meat you buy

They don't tell you about the lives

That those chickens didn't get to live

They don't tell you about the holes

That those cows are forced to live with

On the sides of their stomachs

When you go to the pet store

They don't tell you about the cages

That those puppies lived in

They don't tell you about the thousands of others

That are already in shelters and waiting for homes

They don't tell you about the shelters

That those puppies will be sent to

If they aren't adopted before they become adults

When you go to the city

They don't tell you about the homeless there

That would give anything just for a roof over their heads

They don't tell you about the kidnapping of children

That brings about a new generation of slavery

They don't tell about the overwhelming amount of waste

That pollutes the Hudson River

And ultimately, the Atlantic Ocean

They don't tell you because if you knew

You would hate the world around you

Or you would ignore it

Or you would change it...

Now which one will it be?
