What the Stars Lack

50 stars

The beauty of the white on blue

Surrounded by a sea of

Red

The stars show freedom

A light at the end of the tunnel

Hope

Yet they do not capture the essence

Of those without voices

What do we do,

when the Flag blows in the

breeze,  representing a freedom

that we all do not

have?

When the flag excludes those whose

religions are different, skin is darker,

heart beats for the same gender,

we wipe away its meaning

And all that remains is the color

Dull white upon blue upon

red

This poem is about:
My country
Our world
