On your first day of school in kindergarten,

You are not taught what to say.

In the right, wrong,

Good or bad way.

 

Throughout the years,

I’ve learned a lot.

Not only about subjects,

But what wasn’t taught.

 

Here are a few suggestions

To help you on your way.

If you are lucky,

You’ll see graduation day.

 

Never comment on their breath

After they scold you up close.

Never say they made a mistake,

Even though they make them the most.

 

Never murmur how much you hate the class.

Never roll your eyes,

Or show any sass.

Never make fun of their jokes,

They decide if you pass.

 

Follow these suggestions,

If you want to get ahead,

Or risk detention instead.
