I cannot control the ocean waves, nor turn the hands of Father Time.
I cannot see the future, or take what is not mine.
I do not know what lies ahead, but I know I’ll be just fine.
So I will simply move ahead, and trust in God’s time.
For whatever comes before me on this unfamiliar road.
I know I must persevere, and steady I must hold.
It does not rain forever, nor does life always stay gold.
It’s our hardships that make us stronger, turn into stories when we’re old.

I cannot take back words I’ve said, but I can learn from each mistake.
I cannot make the whole world love, but I can teach it not to hate.
Things happen for a reason, this I’ve come to know.
What seems foggy today becomes clearer in tomorrow.
I cannot control the ocean waves, nor turn the hands of Father Time.
I cannot see the future, or take what is not mine.

I can simply go my own way; do my best to help mankind.
I can make the world a better place, one kind act, one person at a time.
When I am lost, gone astray and nothing goes right.
When my body starts to tremble, when I’m overwhelmed with fright.
I find my way back from the dark by trusting in God’s light.
